The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary year, 1969. Aimed at developing student's personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 level working for a campus-community linkage.

NSS unit and Youth Welfare Club of Yadavindra College of Engineering organized a blood donation camp on 26th August, 2015 in association with Aasra Welfare Society (Regd), Bathinda.
Er. Vineet Kumar IAS, SDM Talwandi Sabo was the chief guest on this blood donation camp . Dr. Balraj Singh Brar (Head YCoE), Dr. Hazoor Singh (Programme Coordinator NSS, YCoE), Mr. Jagtar Singh (Co-cordinator NSS), Dr. Rakesh Bhatia (President Youth Welfare Club were present along with faculty and staff members of YCoE and USBS. Around 200 units of blood were donated by students, faculty and staff members of YCoE . Certificates and medals were distributed to the donors by the chief guest and coordinators.
3) Mock Drill by NDRF Team
NSS unit and Youth Welfare Club of Yadavindra College of Engineering arranged a mock drill by National Disaster Response Team, 7th Bn Bathinda on 16-09-2015 in regard to building collapse during earthquake, NDRF team also exhibited the equipments used by them in various relief/response operations in case of any disaster.
NDRF team comprising of 64 members was led by team commander Inspector Pinto Yadav. During the mock drill of building collapse during earth quake the team members exhibited how they cordon off the affected area and establish a temporary medical camp near the site. The information about the affected area is taken from the concerned officer incharge. Team members demonstrated how they reach the affected area through aerial mode and rescue various persons. They also demonstrated various techniques of lifting the injured persons for taking them for medical treatment. The team members also demonstrated how they rescue the trapped persons and evacuate them from building roof. They also demonstrated the skills to lift persons burnt due to fire and the persons with spinal injury. NDRF team also demonstrated skills of cutting concrete and wooden blocks by using their equipments. After successful cutting they used their specialized cameras to detect any living person under debris. After mock drill the team members exhibited the equipments used for relief activities in building collapse, floods, biological and chemical leakage, avalanche etc.
Dr. Paramvir Singh, Programme Coordinator NSS, Punjabi University, Patiala was the chief guest of the event. Dr. Balraj Singh Brar (Head YCoE), Dr. Hazoor Singh (Programme Coordinator NSS, YCoE), Dr. Rakesh Bhatia (President Youth Welfare Club), Dr. Amandeep Singh (Head USBS), S. Dharam Singh (Security Officer) along with faculty members of YCoE and USBS were present. Around 1500 students of YCoE and USBS were present during the mock drill conducted by NDRF team.
